This is one of the ways I describe the U.S.’s reaction to 9-11:

Imagine that there is a very anti-communist group in the U.S.  They are willing to do violent things to show how they feel.  We all know that there is a lot of anti-communist sentiment in the U.S.  It’s well documented and demonstrated for 50 years.  The U.S. government, even, has also done wars and other acts to fight communism.

But this group is very extreme.  Lets call them ‘anti-communists R us’.  They are only a small group of people and do not reflect how a lot of the U.S. feels.  Most people in the U.S. don’t even know they exist nor care.

Let’s imagine a situation where Communist China does something (I use China out of convenience only, since they are a large country and communist.  I do not intend to say that the Chinese would act this way or to disrespect them in any way.  It’s all meant as an analogy.).  It doesn’t matter what China does, it just does something that pisses the ‘anti-communists R us’ off.  Because of this they decide to take some people and go over to China to blow something up and, subsequently, kill people.  Let’s just say they blow up a government building with politicians and other people in it.  Some odd thousand people are killed (the number doesn’t matter just as long as it’s tragic).

Well, you can imagine the Chinese are going to get pissed off.

Let’s suppose, for a moment, that the Chinese politicians see this as an attack on their country and, subsequently, their ideals.  Remember, they believe in their ideals.  To them it’s the answer to everything and is what life is about.  They think it’s great, the solution to life’s problems.  As a result, they take it serious.  They start a ‘war against anti-communism’.  Since their ideals are threatened this war becomes a war against anything bad in life, it’s a war against evil.  Hence, they say they are fighting for the good in life.  Anyone who opposes them is supporting evil.

So what do they do?

They find out about the people who did it.  They find out they are in the U.S.  So they come over here with their military and start attacking and hunting them down.  They start finding people in the ‘anti-communists R us’ group and arresting them.  The people of the U.S. start to hear bombing and gunfire everywhere.  People start dying.

But, as I said above, there is a lot of well documented anti-communist sentiment in this country.  They start seeing all this evidence and start implicating thousands more as anti-communists.  Since they are in a war against anti-communism they expand their fight to these people.  They bring more troops over and hunt those people down as well.   The people of the U.S. get to hear more bombing, gunfire, and killing surrounding them.  They also get to see Chinese troops and tanks rolling down the street and fighter jets flying overhead.  Everywhere they turn friends and relatives are being arrested or killed as ‘evil’ anti-communists.  It disrupts, destroys, and ruins many lives and families.

Let’s say that the ‘anti-communists R us’ consisted of 5,000 people, which they arrest or kill.  But hunting down all of the other people they can implicate with anti-communist sentiment increases the arrests to 500,000 people, even though they have nothing to do with ‘anti-communists R us’ and the attack.  Whether they agree with that group or not is immaterial.  They can be implicated as anti-communist and so are ‘evil’.  That makes them a threat to communism.  They’re only crime, really, is that the Chinese can find fault with them.

They also find out the U.S. government has done acts against communism.  This is a well known fact.  The U.S. government now becomes a threat to communism and the good in life.  It’s now ‘evil’.  As a result, they do a large scale attack to overthrow and destroy the U.S. government, obviously a threat to Communist China.

They set up a new government based on Chinese Communism, naturally, so we can all live good and happy lives (according to their standards).  They fill it with pro Chinese Communist people.

They claim they have liberated the U.S.  Soon they start building ‘Chinese Liberation of America’ monuments all over the country.  Everywhere buildings are converted to become ‘Halls of Chinese Communism’.  They start a campaign to indoctrinate the U.S. of the new truths they have brought us.

They look into the life of the U.S. and, being different from theirs, they see faults and problems with it.  Our previous life is portrayed as horrible and bad.  Every problem we had is blown out of proportion.  Getting rid of our old life is an example of how right the Chinese are.  They claim they are improving our lives.

Many Chinese go back home and tell China that they are doing so much good in the U.S. and that they are making our lives better (that is, more like theirs) and that they should be proud of what China is doing.  Everyone in China thinks China is great now and Chinese patriotism and arrogance grows.  Everyone waves their flags and think they’re the greatest country in the world.

As usually happens in an occupation, a small proportion of the American population believe in and support the Chinese.  Some of them will gain by supporting them.  Everywhere books and movies appear by Americans showing how great Chinese Communism is.  This is used by the Chinese to show how right they are.

As also usually happens in an occupation, there becomes a small proportion of the American population who despise the Chinese and wants them out.  They start fighting the Chinese occupational forces and anyone who supports them.  A conflict ensues, perhaps a civil war.  The Chinese bring in more troops.  More violence happens.

The Chinese call these people who fight against them ‘rebels’ as if they are these bad people.  They claim they do not reflect how most people in the U.S. feels and are a minority.  They also claim that the people in the U.S. who support the Chinese show that China is right in what it’s doing.  The ‘rebels’ are just evil people that need to be stamped out.

Some of the people in the U.S., who support the Chinese, will join the Chinese forces and help them fight the ‘rebels’.  Again this is further proof how the Chinese are right.

Unfortunately, most of the population are looking at a situation they have no control over or can do nothing about.  The whole situation seemed to come out of nowhere.  They are caught up in a whirlwind.  All they can do is sort of ‘agree’ and accept it.  Their disagreeing isn’t going to get the Chinese out.  Many of them become resigned to the situation.  Some of them develop a silent resentment.  They have to ‘go along with it’ to survive.  What else can they do?  Perhaps some of them stage a protest but it doesn’t do anything.

Soon the Chinese come in with all their culture, learning, products, money, and ways of doing things.  The war-torn U.S. won’t be able to compete with all their stuff.  It’s too massive and overwhelming.  All this stuff buys some support from some of the population.

The Chinese use all sorts of techniques to ‘win’ over the population of the U.S., so they’ll support the Chinese.  In many ways there becomes a massive campaign to make the people of the U.S. support the Chinese.  The success of this will only show the Chinese how right they are.

With all the problems that were caused by their invading the Chinese try to help the U.S. out and give aid.  Then they tell everyone how great they are for helping.  Some of the people will know this is nothing but a ploy to make China look good and to cover up the problems they created.  Other people will believe what the Chinese say.

Soon, our kids will be taught Chinese Communist things and ways.  Many of our kids become like the Chinese.  They dress like them, talk Chinese, watch their movies, etc.  This is further proof for the Chinese of the good they do.

Because the Chinese set up the government there’s no other way for the government to be except Chinese Communist.  It can’t be changed.  The people of the U.S. can’t change it.  The Chinese government spent too much money to get it established and aren’t going to allow any other form of government.  This is also used by the Chinese to show how right they are.

So now many of people find that everything is Chinese and communist and there’s nothing they can do about it.  Many of their relatives and friends have been killed or imprisoned.  Their whole life has been disrupted and altered.

They get to hear about how the Chinese are helping them so much, as if they couldn’t live without them.  They are the U.S.’s saviors.  Some people in the U.S. will believe this.  Many of them will know this isn’t true, but there’s no point even mentioning it.  What’s it going to do?

No doubt there will be good things as a result of the Chinese occupation (as there usually are), but do those few good things justify the death, disruption, and interference they cause and having their lives changed needlessly?   The country will be divided.  Some will say yes, some will say no, some will be too lost to say.  It all depends on where you stand.

The people in the U.S. are helpless.   They can do nothing . . . that is, unless you agree with the Chinese or have resigned yourself to the situation (which is what most will probably HAVE TO DO).  Now the Chinese hover over their heads and take the credit for everything ‘good’ that happens.

In the Chinese eyes they’ve done good but they’ve taken away the U.S.’s ability to be their own people, do their own things, and solve their own problems.  In many ways this undermines, humiliates, and degrades them . . . but noone will care.  The Chinese will be convinced they’re right and our saviors.

In the end the people of the U.S. will have to clean up the social, economic, and human mess the Chinese created.  This will probably go by unnoticed and unrecognized.

And it was all because a small group of people were pissed off and went to China and did a violent act.  Everyone’s lives in the U.S. were changed because of what those few people did and how the Chinese responded.

This is not a lot of different than what the U.S. is doing as a response to 9-11.

I do know this:  I DO NOT WANT MY LIFE CHANGED (I DON’T CARE IF IT IS FOR THE BETTER!) BECAUSE OF THE BEHAVIOR OF A FEW PEOPLE, PARTICULARLY PEOPLE I DIDN’T KNOW EXIST OR CARED ABOUT.  I DON’T WANT A FOREIGN COUNTRY TO COME IN AND ‘SAVE’ ME ACCORDING TO THEIR STANDARDS, IMPOSE THEIR GOVERNMENT ON ME, AND TELL ME HOW TO LIVE.  I DON’T THINK ANYONE ELSE SHOULD HAVE THEIR LIVES CHANGED THAT WAY EITHER, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT’S MY COUNTRY THAT’S DOING IT!  I could care less about the endless claims of helping people and improving lives.  We’ve been hearing that for over 500 years and all it’s done is disrupt the world and cause problems.

I’ve always said that if that happened I’d hunt down the American idiot who went over to attack the Chinese AND I’d hunt down the Chinese idiot who felt he had to change all of our lives and place them side by side and shoot them.  I still feel that’s what should happen to Bin Laden AND Bush . . . shot side by side.

Of the two I still think Bush caused the most problems for the world.

(I wrote this in about 2007 or 2008 to describe how I felt about the situation)
